CHARACTER NAME: Virginia au Augustus

IMPORT EXPLANATION:

WORLD AU:

AU includes one small country to the far east of Russia, just north of China. The country is called Lunael, and there is a province called Marsa within the country ( named after the god Mars and the moon ).

Lunael and Marsa, for AU purposes, formed alongside Russia rather than out of Russia. Where Varangian settlers stayed more western before expanding later, Lunael and Marsa Varangian ancestors moved eastern to traverse the land there rather than invade Kiev to the south. Think along the lines of Khabarovsk Krai and northern half of Sakhalin ( visual reference ), but separate countries instead of regions of Russia.

Continental Lunael formed first, before spreading across the ocean to take control of the northern parts of the adjacent islands. The Marsa province was formed on the adjacent island ( AU diverges here from mostly normal world advancements into more scifi advancements, and bullshitting a lot about resources and such ).

Isolated from most of the world, Lunael advanced their technology after bountiful resources and minerals were found on their island. Lunael kept separate from most of the world for a long time, starting to form it's own society away from the influences of other failed governments and traditions.

With rapidly growing technology, later centuries brought genetic advancements in evolution that allowed Lunael government to breed a caste system into the populace dictated primarily by eye color. While eyes typically denoted your cast, selective eugenics allowed particular traits to grow more in different colors. Obsidian grew broader and stronger, reds were lithe and muscular, pinks frail and light, etc. While differences in body types among colors weren't uncommon, outliers were rare and intriguing at best.

Gold is on top as the ruling class, Reds are on bottom. Low Reds are the lowest.

Golds are like humans on steroids. Or crack. Or whatever. Stronger, faster, better sight. Sort of like humans at peak physical conditions. It's enough to know the difference between a Low Red and a Gold just by looking at them or shaking their hands.

Having most of the resources needed to fuel the country ( fossil fuels primarily ), Marsa became highly essential to all of Lunael's needs.

Keeping isolated from the world, Lunael's goals weren't primarily profiteering ( though rare goods were sold to keep funding the nation ), but rather develop a more perfect society free of strife and chaos.

Small rebellions begin to occur in Marsa, striking at the Marsan government. Mostly of lower colors, primarily of Low Reds who are the hard laborers ( few Low Reds even know there's a way of life beyond labor, especially due to the control on the media by the golds )

Currently Lunael is under rule by a sovereign, descendant of the only dynasty to rule Lunael. Octavia au Lune ( a gold, all rulers are gold ) rules the country, having taken the throne after beheading her father for being a bad ruler.

Marsa governed by Nero au Augustus, currently dealing with the minor rebellions in Marsa.

Despite claims of a better Society, things aren't actually as good as they seem.

CHARACTER AU:

Virginia au Augustus ( Mustang ) is the daughter of Nero au Augustus and his later wife ( potentially third, it's not clear but she was his last wife ). She is twin to Adrius au Augustus ( the Jackal ) and little sister to Claudius au Augustus.

Marsa was ruled by House Cylus with House Bellona and Augustus vying for rule.

Augustus and Bellona warred, Cylus took the side of Bellona, and Lune took the side of Augustus. House Cylus was decimated on order of Octavia au Lune after Nero au Augustus conspired with her.

Nero au Augustus was made archGoverner of Marsa.

Nero au Augustus wed Iona au Bellona and murdered her after the wedding.

Married his last wife ( and potentially one before her ), and she died sometime in here as well.

Bellona killed Nero's eldest and brightest son, Claudius.

The Augustus family was never really right after the death of of his last wife and worse after Claudius. Nero had once loved his children, but treated them distantly after. Adrius developed more violent and cruel tendencies and Viriginia was left to try to put the pieces of her family back together.

Virginia attended the Institute, a school meant to make golds Peerless Scarred.

The belief was that golds were made soft by easy living and even Low Colors new tragedy golds could never dream of, so they underwent rigorous training at the Institute to earn scars that marked them as deserving of their ranks and titles and more leadership.

After the initial tests, those who passed are split into houses. Virginia was placed in House Minerva.

On their first night, students are beaten and dragged into small castles in the wild. They're locked in a room with one other gold and told only one of them leaves alive to attend the Institute.

Virginia attended the Institute.

Institute turns out to be months living in the wild with proctors, houses battling to see who can unite all twelve of them.

During that time Virginia meets a boy from Mars, Darrow, whom she starts to follow. To the point where she ends the game by capturing her twin and giving him to Darrow.

Her twin was a jerk anyway. Proctors favored him because they were paid to by her father, no one was happy. It was a bloody mess. Literally. People died in those games.

Also Darrow is a Low Red that underwent surgery to be a gold so. There's that. Virginia still doesn't know.

In the years following the Institute, Virginia left home after a falling out with Darrow ( who joined her family's House as a Lancer ), to study politics at Octavia au Lune's side.

Where once the Sovereign was a friend to Augustus, she lately favors Bellona and finds Augustus incompetent in handling the rebellions. Virginia agrees to study at her side in order to keep peace between all their families.

Also dates Cassius au Bellona, heir to the Bellona House.

Tries to get her family to make peace with the Sovereign and Bellona House, but after Darrow and Cassius duel to the death for honor, Darrow starts to win and the Sovereign intervenes. Fighting breaks out and the Augustus family is forced to retreat.

Virginia tries, again, to make peace but discovers Octavia lured Augustus to a summit at Lunael with the intent of ending the family once and for all, having lied to Virginia that they wouldn't be harmed.

Lune's knights come for the Augustus family ( under house arrest after the duel ) in the middle of the knight. Many die. Virginia and Darrow hijack a plane to get her family back to Marsa where they can make a better stand.

Bringing Virginia in here at this point under the idea of hiding out from Octavia au Lune.
